January Detox
Having fallen completely off the wagon in December, binging on chocolate on a daily basis, I decided come January enough was enough, time to get back to a healthy eating regime. Being somewhat of a masochist, I decided to tackle the hardest bit first. The hardest thing for me to give up is coffee. As much as I love my morning coffee, it is packed full of toxins and contains sugar. It can be difficult to lose weight when your body is holding on to so many toxins. Toxins are stored in our fat cells so if our body is toxic we won’t be able to break down fat. So on holiday in Costa Rica I managed to give myself a head start and deprive myself of my morning stimulation. I’m proud to say I’ve gone 3 weeks without it now and I’m feeling quite good actually. It takes 21 days to form a new habit so am hoping I am now on my way to becoming a non coffee drinker!
For the last 2 weeks I’ve been following a strict detox cutting out all processed food, sugar, wheat, alcohol dairy and caffeine. I’ll admit it’s not always easy and can require a bit of preparation. It can also be common to experience flu like symptoms, diarrhea and feel tired and grumpy. This means it’s working! Drink plenty of water, at least 2 litres per day to flush out those toxins! Your body will thank you for it in the long run! Getting started now by eliminating toxins from your body will put you on a head start for getting into the best possible shape when holiday season comes around!
